It was before the birth of Alice. Christine and I were having breakfast with our mother and father. On the table was one helping of avocado pear. Who of the four of us should have it? We all made representations. Mom said that it would be good for the baby and, no doubt, with the support of Dad, she got the helping of avocado pear. At that stage I was about eight and Mom's words had no significance to me - I did not realise that Christine and I were to be joined by a wonderful sister! Some time later, I was hustled out of my bed, during, the early hours of one morning, and taken to share Christine's bed with her. I don't recall there being any explanation given to me for the inconvenience but, if there was, I was not aware that Christine and I were to be joined by a super sister. And then it happened - some while later, I heard a baby crying and shortly afterwards we were taken to see our newly arrived sister!
