Alice, friend of over 50 years, you taught me, who was from a totally different background, so much. This was on a practical level, from sewing with silk which was a great "find"in Bangor to making a 3-layer face-covering well before they became de rigueur in 2020 - ahead of the curve as ever. I remember your wise advice on dealing with humans and the dynamics long before this was needed. Beyond the practical yours was an enormous creative energy, in the garden and in the kitchen, making bowls of ice for brown bread ice-cream. As Peter said at Sybella's wedding, you're one of the wonderful things to come out of Africa. I was delighted to see your South Africa in 2018. I feel privileged to have had your friendship.
